Our natural toppers are made with 100% organic cotton and wool which are naturally hypoallergenic. So people with specific chemical sensitivities can sleep soundly knowing that our toppers are good for their skin, and the environment. Here’s the material combination for our toppers, and the reasons behind why we chose them.
The three components of our toppers:
Organic cotton is the ideal material for our natural mattress topper due to its soft feel and natural durability, hypoallergenic properties and breathability. Like our mattresses, all of our natural latex toppers are made with Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS) certified cotton, meaning no chemicals have been used in the process from farm to final product. So you can lie back and relax, safe with the knowledge that there are no nasties in our unbleached and undyed natural mattress toppers, for both your and our team’s health.
Below the organic cotton cover of our natural mattress topper comes a layer of quilted 100% organic wool. Made with fairly traded wool from sheep reared in the foothills of the Himalayas, this material is a perfect cushion for your body. Weighing in at 500 grams per square metre this dense, natural fabric delivers maximum comfort with minimal harm to you or the environment. We use organic wool, not only for comfort, but also as it is naturally fire retardant (which means no extra chemicals are needed for your safety). We see wool as a magic natural material, as it has the ability to insulate during the winter but also wick away moisture in the summer, the perfect natural adaptor for any weather and temperature. Ensuring you can use your topper throughout the year, and unpredictable UK weather!
Finally, we proudly use 100% A grade natural latex* in our organic mattress topper. This natural material is made from Forest Stewardship Council approved rubber plantations in Sri Lanka. Pure rubber sap is sustainably harvested from the tree Havea Brasilliensis (these trees produce rubber for up to 30 years and are not harmed during the harvesting process). The sap of the tree is whipped to a froth, blended with natural graphite (the graphite adds to our natural toppers’ fire-resistant properties) and then moulded. After being heated the net result of the process is a natural latex that is both clean and green. It is also resilient, durable and wonderfully comfortable. Nature’s memory foam, if you like.
